Paternity Tests Now In a Box!
A few days ago, it was announced that DNA testing is now available in kits for the general public. The manufacturer of this is Sorenson Genomics and it is called the Identigene test. This is the first of the many other DNA tests that are to come out soon.
The home pregnancy kits may have inspired the manufacturers of these DNA tests. If you can find out if you are pregnant at home, why not find out if you are a child’s father? This has proved to be a question worth answering and an answer was then found: DNA testing in a box.
The Identigene kits are as yet limited to a number of states in the US but they will soon hit mainstream and maybe even worldwide. The kit includes cotton swabs to obtain cell samples from the inner cheek of the child and the “father”, a plastic bag to contain it and consent forms. It is currently sold for $29.99 at selected stores. That excludes the processing fee of $119. Since this isn’t admissible in court, you have to pay an extra cost of $200 for that.
The question of “who is the father” can now be answered within a few short days. It is such great news especially to those who have fought long and hard for the custody battles in court.

I work for Identigene and I believe that we are now in about 30 states. The RiteAid and Meijer pharmacies carry the DNA Paternity Test, with the exception of their NY stores. (NY has laws requiring a prescription for any DNA test.) If you check out our website at DNATESTING.COM, you can find the nearest store.

I remember reading a blog from Dlisted.com about this…saying it was for women who sleep with men too much to the point they don’t know who the father is…:))

You may be surprised by the number of reasons people are interested in this type of test. I have seen people in there 50’s trying to find a biological father. I have had people in their 20’s tring to find out who their biological father is for medical reasons. Men sometimes wonder if a child is really their child. Hopefully this test can help those that have unanswered questions only DNA can answer.
