No Shortcuts To Become A Nurse

feature photo

The life of a nursing student would have been a whole lot easier if there was a single book titled, “How to Become a Nurse” or “Nursing for Dummies” that teaches the shortcuts and the easy path to becoming a nurse. Unfortunately these isn’t one. What is available are a thousand books each focusing on the different fields of Nursing.

There are volumes upon volumes of thick, large, heavy Nursing books stacked in a section of the library or messily piled on top of each other on a nursing student’s study table. Every night, nurse aspirants have to read these books, study them and write notes to get ready for the class and also for exams. There are even those who are already registered nurses who still take the time to pore over Nursing books for supplemental knowledge.

It’s easier for those diligent students who have done their homework over the weekend and during school breaks since they only have to review their notes before classes start. However, not all students have developed such healthy study habits. There are some who often cram the night before the exams and sometimes they even get their friend’s notes photocopied for their use.

What these students should know is that becoming a nurse doesn’t only end in the classroom. Nursing is a practice discipline so they have to apply what they have learned in the hospital setting. If they haven’t learned anything in the classrooms then they are in deep trouble when they are in the hospitals where they are expected to act and think like registered nurses.

In short, there is no easy way to become a nurse. Each nursing aspirant has to earn the title registered nurse. In order to do that you have to undergo through all the ups and downs of a nurse’s life. It maybe hard and extremely stressful at times but all the sacrifices will be worth it when you have achieved your goal.
