Get Your Kids Vaccinated

Some of you might ask yourselves why you should go through all the trouble of remembering dates for your kid’s vaccination schedules. That’s because there are lots of diseases that can be prevented through vaccines. It could mean that you have to pay for the shots but those expenses are negligible compared to the expenses that you will pay for when your child gets ill.

Basically there are five vaccines that your child should get once he is born. These are important since the baby doesn’t have antibodies to fight infection just yet. These vaccines are the Tetanus Toxoid, BCG, Oral Polio Vaccine, Hepatitis B Vaccines and DPT.

Tetanus toxoid fights against tetanus, DPT prevents whooping cough, OPV against polio and HBV against hepatitis b. Imagine all these antibodies within your child and protecting him from becoming ill from these causes.

These vaccines should be given at a specific age and since most of them require multiple shots, it also has specific time intervals between shots. It is up to the parents to keep track of schedules so that there won’t be any missed or delayed shots.

Remember it is always better to prevent a disease than cure it.
