Advancement In Nursing

If you are considering entering the health care world, you might want to become a registered nurse. Registered nurses account for the largest health care occupation with 2.5 million jobs and that’s only counting in the United States.

You don’t have to worry about career advancements too since there are many to choose from. Most registered nurses start out as nursing aides and licensed practical nurses. After saving a bit, they go back to school to earn their bachelor’s degree and receive the title as a registered nurse.

Most RNs start out as staff in the hospitals and with time and an excellent performance record; they are promoted to stations with more responsibility and a higher level of expertise.

There are also careers in management for nurses. They can advance from assistant unit manager or head nurse to senior level administrative roles such as assistant directors, director, vice president, or chief nurse. These roles of course require additional units in management and experience so more studies are further required.

There are plenty of career paths for a nurse. You don’t have to worry about being stuck in the same station for a long time, unless you want to stay there. You can always go up the ladder to better positions and better pay.
