Have you heard about the fit but fat theory? It’s when a person is overweight or obese but still he exercises regularly or is constantly active in most days of the week. This has been a theory long studied by many researchers to determine if there is a relationship between being fit but fat and the development cardiovascular diseases or CVD.

A study, involving 39,000 women who are around 54 years old, was conducted to determine if a person’s physical activity and body mass would affect the chances of developing heart diseases. The study included a questionnaire about the person’s height, weight and physical activity for the past year. They were followed for the next 11 years.

The results of the study showed that overweight and obese women who lived active lifestyles fared better than other women who were also overweight and obese but were inactive. The rates of women who developed heart diseases doubled when it came to being overweight or obese and were also inactive.

This just goes to show that being active no matter if you are overweight or obese still makes all the difference when it comes to developing heart diseases. One shouldn’t lose hope and still continue exercising regularly to keep fit.
